NAAP, DepEd Pasay Sign MOA for Development of Senior High School Aviation Curriculum

PASAY CITY – The National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Pasay City have formalized their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Development of the Senior High School Aviation Curriculum, marking a significant step toward advancing aviation education and strengthening the pathway for learners aspiring to pursue careers in the aviation industry today, August 13.

The partnership seeks to develop a relevant and responsive Senior High School aviation curriculum that will provide learners with foundational knowledge and competencies in aviation while establishing a clearer pathway from basic education to higher education and, ultimately, to the aviation workforce.

During the ceremony, Dr. Maripaz T. Mendoza, Chief Education Supervisor, underscored the importance of collaboration among educational institutions in creating opportunities that will help learners succeed and prepare them for future academic and career pursuits.

Engr. Jeq Zyrius Sudweste, Project Lead and NAAP Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented an overview of the project, highlighting its role in strengthening learners’ foundational knowledge of the aviation industry and preparing them for further studies and potential careers in the field.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ricardo A. Fajardo, Project Lead for Project Management and Implementation and NAAP Director for Extension Services, discussed the salient provisions of the MOA. He expressed appreciation to both NAAP and DepEd for their collaborative efforts toward the realization of the project.

Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo, CESO VI, Schools Division Superintendent of the DepEd Schools Division of Pasay City, emphasized that the partnership should extend beyond the signing of the MOA. He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration and continuous improvement to ensure the success and long-term impact of the initiative. Dr. Torrecampo also thanked NAAP for spearheading the project and expressed hope that the initiative could eventually be replicated in other Senior High Schools in Pasay City.

For his part, Prof. Marwin M. Dela Cruz, PhD, NAAP President, reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to providing quality and accessible education. He emphasized that “quality without access leads to inequality, while access without quality offers false hope,” underscoring the importance of ensuring that educational opportunities are both excellent and accessible to learners.

President Dela Cruz also highlighted the convergence of the education agendas of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), particularly in creating a clear pathway for human capital development from Senior High School to Higher Education.

The MOA signing reflects the shared commitment of NAAP and DepEd Pasay to strengthen the continuity of education and develop future-ready learners equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue opportunities in the aviation sector.

Through this partnership, NAAP continues to advance its mandate of contributing to the development of a highly skilled and globally competitive aviation workforce while fostering stronger linkages between basic education and higher education.
